Stan Dempsey to head Colorado Mining Association

The former head of the Colorado Petroleum Association, Stan Dempsey Jr., has decided to leave and take over as president of the Colorado Mining Association. As a registered lobbyist and experienced advocate of industry Stan will be invaluable to CMA as they work with state and federal legislatures to serve mining’s special problems and needs. Geopros, Inc., an established leader in the recruitment and placement of professionals, became an obvious choice to replace the Colorado Mining Association president upon the announcement of Stuart Sanderson’s retirement. Stuart Sanderson who is leaving after 22 years of service guiding the CMA will remain as a consultant to Stan to assist with the transition. Geopros focused on blending the need for a cultural fit in the organization and industry along with the technical needs, expertise and experience needed by someone who will lead such a dynamic organization.

After a nationwide search, Stan Dempsey Jr. was selected as the choice to continue to foster, promote and develop the general welfare of the mineral resource industry through the on-going endeavors of the Colorado Mining Association.

The Colorado Mining Association, a trade association started in 1876, has a membership of 1,050 and is composed of companies large and small engaged in all facets of mining from equipment and supplies, to production, refining and exploration whether it be for metals, industrial minerals, coal or oil shale. The Association works in concert with other state and national mining associations to further and support the interests of the mineral resource industry, to assist educational institutions in the support and encouraging interest of the mineral resource industry and encourages and promotes health and safety among persons actively engaged in the mineral resource industry.
